Introducing My Data Chameleon a data platform to help organizations navigate energy efficiency program compliance.
My Data Chameleon is a new, web-based platform to improve data interoperability, cost-effectiveness assessment and program compliance in the California Public Utilities Commission’s (CPUC) initiative to improve energy efficiency among utilities.
My Data Chameleon brings a new, more intuitive interface and innovative informatics tools, informed by a decade of experience in technical support of CPUC cost-effectiveness assessments, to a rapidly growing population of users needing access to the CPUC’s process.
For more than 10 years, California utilities have had to validate the cost effectiveness of their energy efficiency programs to qualify for approval and funding from the CPUC. Over that time, legacy data systems have set strict and complex rules for how program administrators are able to assess their programs for cost effectiveness. In many cases, this has created a data flow “bottle neck”, that has added time, cost and frustration for staff attempting to get their programs approved. Next year the state has mandated that a large fraction of funding for these programs will go to “third parties”, such as municipalities and energy efficiency entrepreneurs – greatly expanding the number of parties seeking cost effectiveness assessments, and at the same time increasing the data flow bottle neck.
Anticipating this situation, Sharper Informatics Solutions LLC has developed My Data Chameleon as a tool for utilities, regional energy networks, community choice aggregators, and third parties to navigate the CPUC’s cost effectiveness assessment process. My Data Chameleon leverages a number of innovations to help users get their data into compliance with the CPUC. These include greatly expanding the diversity of data formats that can input into the system, automated data QA/QC interrogation with interactive data correction, intuitive organization of program and measure data into portfolios that increase user control of their data, state of the art system security and product development tools.
